learning-space creative thinking day—May 2005

At the end of May we will be hosting an experimental one day event, bringing together a small and diverse group of innovative and creative thinkers to explore learning and creativity. Most participants will be people we already work with in a variety of different organisations and contexts, but we are also holding open several places for others who may be interested—if you want to find out more please contact us .

Creative Space

We are continuing to work with Creative Partnerships in Nottingham around the theme of ‘creative space’. In September John was awarded a research bursary to work with and support the Creative Space theme group through until June 2005. Linked to this research, we organised and facilitated a Creative Space CPD day in November for Nottingham teachers and creative practitioners at the Bonnington Art Gallery. Work with Schools and Colleges

Our recent work with schools has included two visioning events to inform the design of a new primary school in Nottingham.

The first involved the whole school staff (teaching and non teaching), the design team and the commissioning team from the LEA. This whole day event explored and started to develop a shared vision for the new school through exciting and hands-on workshops and activities around:

The second event brought together representatives from the local community, local partner and voluntary organisations and different departments from the local authority to consider the strategic context for the development of a new school, and its relationship with the development of the local community.

For information on some of our work with a Nottingham secondary school see the article Learning by Design in the CABE Education magazine 360degrees.

We also contributed to the new CABE Design Guide: Being Involved in School Design , published in September

If you want to find out more about any of these projects please contact us . We will be posting another update in May 2005
